Rowen Foundation Construction Update
September 2023
As the one-year anniversary of groundbreaking nears, we are thrilled to share the Phase 1 construction progress that has been made at the Rowen site.
Following Rowen’s groundbreaking ceremony in December 2022, construction team Reeves Young swiftly got to work. The Conditional Limits of Disturbance Permit (LDP) was issued in January 2023, which allowed the team to get to work and eventually finish clearing the site in March. In June, preparation and installation of the first phase of Reeves Young’s sanitary sewer line along the East/West corridor, marking significant progress for Phase 1.
As June drove to a close, pre-blast surveys for the water main installation along Drowning Creek Road revealed rock softer than expected, resulting in the construction team opting to hammer for the line. While construction took place, approval was given by Gwinnett County to proceed with clearing and grubbing on the North/South corridor. In mid-July, we celebrated the completion of sanitary sewer line installation and backfill on the East/West corridor. Our team also commenced water main installation at the Tanner Road tie-in for Drowning Creek on July 18, reaching completion on July 19, 2023.
The Rowen team is delighted with the remarkable progress achieved thus far and are happy to announce that in August the water main installation on the West end of the East/West corridor began, storm drain installation began on the North/South corridor, and the Reeves Young team started to install the crushed stone base near New Rock Springs church and are working towards a central roundabout. The pace and quality of the progress of Phase 1 thus far is a testament to what we believe will be a viable and inspired knowledge community in the years to come. Stay tuned for more updates to see what’s growing at Rowen!
